A desk, not a procurement suite
The numbering page keeps a prefix, a year, and a counter. Filing an order that uses the next number moves the counter.
The ledger holds what you filed. Change the status when it is sent, partly received, or closed.
Halden is for the office that still buys paper, toner, parts, and contract work by email. It is the wrong tool if you need approval routes, inventory, or a bank feed. Those products exist, and they cost money, because that work is harder than a document.

Questions
Is Halden free?
Yes. The desk has no subscription and no account. Pages include advertising slots so a solo publisher can run display ads. You can use the generator, vendor book, and ledger without paying.
Where are my purchase orders stored?
In this browser, on this computer, using local storage. They are not uploaded to a server. A different browser or a private window will not see them. Clearing site data deletes them. Export a CSV when you want a backup.
Can I get a PDF?
Yes. Choose Print / Save PDF and pick Save as PDF in the print dialog. The navigation, ads, and buttons are left off the printed page.
Does this look up sales tax, VAT, or GST?
No. Type the rate your vendor charges. Rates differ by state, province, and country, and a guessed rate is worse than a blank one. Halden is not a tax engine.
Can several people approve an order?
Not inside Halden. It is a single desk. Print the order and collect a signature if your office needs one. Approval chains belong in a procurement system once you outgrow a browser.
Will this work for offices in the US, UK, and Canada?
Yes, as a commercial document. Choose USD, CAD, GBP, or EUR. It does not file taxes, and it does not produce a VAT or GST invoice. Those documents come from the seller.
